As you use your carriage, the wheels from the upper carriage will begin to wear grooves in the lower carriage. This is part of the normal breaking-in process of your carriage. The upper carriage wheels are creating a smooth surface for them to roll in.

You should clean these v-grooves in your lower carriage periodically to remove household dust, thread, and any aluminum dust that is created during the break-in process.

There is a 5 year warranty on the entire frame and if you have any problems with any part of your frame, feel free to give us a call.

Carriage with break-in grooves.

We have made another addition to our frames.
We are now fastening a steel rod into the v-groove of our carriage tracks. This rod takes the weight of the wheel off of the grooves, and reduces the amount of friction between the wheels and the track.
  • If you would like to add this rod yourself, we use a #37 steel drill rod, cut to length and fastened to the rod with silicon caulk.
  • If you would like to purchase this rod from us, we will send you two rods for $5.00. Please specify if your carriage has pegs at the end or not, this determines the length of the rod we need to send you.

You can simply lay your rods into the v-tracks, they don't need to be fastened down. If you choose to fasten them into the tracks, read the following instructions.

To install your rods:

First, clean your v-tracks and your rods with a solvent like lacquer thinner to ensure good adhesion.
When you receive your rod, simply place a dab of silicon about 1" from the end of both ends of both v-rails. Press the rods into the grooves firmly and move them around a little bit to set them into the silicon. Wipe all of the excess silicon away with your finger or a piece of dry cloth. Make sure there is no excess silicon where your wheels contact the v-track. It may cause the wheels to stick in that area, and it will attract dust.

Please call us if you have any questions, 1-800-443-5800.

This diagram shows how the rod is placed in the track to reduce friction between the wheel and the v-track.
